The first large US Silent Peace Walk is planned for Central Park on Sunday October 7, 2012. After an opening ceremony in the early after noon, the walk will move through Central Park allowing participants to join in along the way. At the conclusion of the silent walk, there will be listening circles guided by experienced facilitators. Whether people walk for short or long, remain in silence or join a listening circle, all will be welcome. We envision that thousands will join. Then regular Silent Walks may follow. Public invitations to join the Walk will be widespread with outreach to many communities. Information will be made available through the conventional media and social media, as well as written explanations on signs at the site of the opening and listening groups. The groups and individuals we have contacted so far all express interest and excitement.
